The Mederle Hof is situated in a sunny spot 500 metres above everyday life on the outskirts of the historic village of St. Pauls in South Tyrol. Surrounded by lush green meadows, and gently rolling vineyards and orchards, a feeling of peace and serenity is never far away at the Mederle Hof. Added to this is the impressive natural spectacle of the South Tyrolean lowlands with unrestricted 360º panoramic views towards Bolzano, the Mendel mountain range, Latemar, Rosengarten and Schlern. The Mederle family has lived here since 1995 and has created 5 individual holiday homes for relaxing, cooking, reading, mountain climbing and simply feeling happy. Welcome to the Mederle Hof.

And if the surrounding mountains are too high sometimes, or you just want to let your thoughts wander for a while then why not pay our garden a visit? The outdoor pool offers a chance to cool down on hot days, whilst the lawn is an inviting place to linger for a while. The tables and chairs under our shady trees are wonderful for eating breakfast on a morning, and on an evening provide a delightful cosy spot to make the most of our barbecues or bring the day to a convivial close over a glass of house wine and “Speck” from the Mederle Hof. Our herb and vegetable garden is as much of a treat for amateur chefs as our children’s playground is for our youngest guests.

Be it a bread roll service with fresh bread or a chock-full breakfast basket with fresh bread rolls, eggs, various spreads and homemade jams, vegetables, fruit and fruit juices from our farm - we will be pleased to bring all of the ingredients for breakfast to your door on request. On request we can also obtain cheese, sausages or ham from trusted local shops. And as far as herbs are concerned, you are welcome to help yourself from the herb bed in our garden.

Welcome to the picturesque wine-growing village of St. Pauls with lots of historic buildings and residences, traditional façades and crooked bay windows nestling in vineyards and orchards! The parish church is at the heart of the village. Due to its majestic size it is also known as the “Cathedral in the Country”. Its characteristic onion dome reaches a mighty 86 metres into the heavens and it is one of the most significant sacred buildings in South Tyrol. Be it the biennial St. Pauls Village Festival, the Wine Culture Weeks in summer, the “hospitable table in the streets of St. Pauls”, where a decorated table over 130 metres long runs through the middle of the village and award-winning chef Herbert Hintner serves delicious food, or the Christmas Crib Festival during Advent – these and many other highlights make your holiday in St. Pauls unique.

On foot or by mountain bike, the mountains are calling! In summer visitors can enjoy leisurely family hikes, challenging mountain excursions, a round of golf and even via ferrata. The small and large Montiggler Lakes near Eppan or Lake Kalterer, South Tyrol’s largest natural body of water, provide cool variety. And the area is well worth a visit in winter too! Then the landscape is cloaked in wintry white and is just waiting for you to enjoy winter hikes, tobogganing, snowboarding or skiing. With the ski resorts of Carezza, Obereggen, Rittner Horn, Reinswald and Merano 2000 all close by, your holiday will be a winter fairytale come true.

Suggested excursions


The Three Castles Hike, which runs from the Gothic church tower of St. Pauls past the ruins of Boymont Castle, Hocheppan Castle and Korb Castle, boasts breathtaking views and bewitches hikers with its medieval charm. And countless other sights in the immediate vicinity are just waiting to be discovered too, such as the historic centre of Bolzano with the Oetzi Museum, or Merano, the spa town with an international reputation. The Gardens of Trauttmansdorf Castle, a variety of exhibitions, and concerts are also not to be missed, as well as excursions into the fascinating nearby mountains, such as the unique UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site of the Dolomites.

    Of course you can enjoy a wonderful breakfast in your holiday apartment. The kitchen contains everything that you might need to set up a lovely breakfast table. On request we are able to deliver bread rolls to you for a small supplement.  Or we will be happy to prepare a breakfast basket with, depending on the season, at least 7 things produced on the farm, such as eggs, homemade jams, seasonal fruit and vegetables, fruit purée, fruit syrups and juices, which you can, of course, also use for a picnic. On request we can also obtain cheese, sausages or ham from trusted local shops.

    At the Mederle Hof we grow both fruit and grapes for winemaking. If you would like to find out more about what we do, we would be happy to arrange a guided tour of our orchards and vineyard, and anyone who wants is welcome to watch as we harvest our apples. The tour of the cellar with wine tasting session where we tell tales from our everyday lives over a glass or two, is especially convivial! The cellar tour is a really popular activity on rainy days.

There are coloured bins available for glass and metal, paper and plastic. The remaining waste goes in the black bin. For organic waste there is an additional brown bin.
